Delta Regional Unit Overview

Delta Regional Unit is operated by the Arkansas Department of Corrections, Division of Correction. The DOC facility page lists it at 880 East Gaines in Dermott, Arkansas. The research places Dermott in Chicot County, near Desha County, and explains why the unit matters for Desha County inmate searches: a person arrested locally may later move into ADC custody after sentencing, commitment, parole action, or another state-custody event.

The unit is a state prison for sentenced male prisoners. Research from DOC annual reports identifies it as minimum/medium custody, and the current DOC page lists ACA accreditation and a current capacity figure. That makes it a prison page, not a jail roster page. Local bond, first-appearance, city custody, and municipal hold questions still belong with the Desha County Sheriff, Dumas, McGehee, or the court that handled the case.

Delta Regional Unit Population

Delta Regional Unit has stronger population documentation than the local Desha County custody channel. DOC's current facility page lists capacity at 599. DOC annual reports provide older figures: FY2022 listed 614 capacity and 603 average daily population, while FY2017 listed 610 board-rated capacity and 620 average daily population. These are state-prison figures and should not be counted as Desha County jail figures.

Delta Regional Unit Visits

DOC visitation is different from local jail visitation. Research states that DOC visitation forms must be completed and returned to the inmate's assigned unit to the attention of the unit visitation clerk. They should not be returned to the inmate and should not be sent to the Florida mail-scanning address used for non-legal mail. Scheduling and approval rules should be confirmed with the unit before travel.

Delta Regional Unit Mail

ADC mail and money rules apply after a person is in state custody. DOC states that paper money orders are no longer accepted after May 31, 2025. Family and friends may send money online through the official online inmate banking service with a credit card and processing fee. DOC warns not to send funds through Cash App, Chime, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, or other non-DOC apps.

Effective September 15, 2025, non-legal mail for ADC inmates is processed through the digital mail system. Non-legal mail must be sent to ARDOC at P.O. Box 25918, Tampa, FL 33622, with the inmate's name and ADC number. DOC says mail is scanned and delivered electronically. Legal mail, media mail, books, magazines, packages, and subscriptions should not go to that Tampa address.

Delta Regional Unit Records

ADC profiles can show an inmate photo, ADC number, name, race, sex, hair, eyes, height, weight, birth date, initial receipt date, facility, facility address, mailing address, custody classification, good-time class, PE/TE date, total time, ADC incarcerations, VINE link, print option, and money or phone buttons. Court history may still require Arkansas Case Search because a prison profile is not the court docket.

Delta Regional Unit Programs

Research lists education, dyslexia intervention, literacy, GED or Ready testing, iCEV credentials, ServSafe Food Handler, Alcoholics Anonymous or Thread of Hope, Anger Management, faith-based PAL, industry janitorial supply, jail operation, Think Legacy, and WAGE. These programs are state-prison programs and should not be assumed for short-term Dumas or McGehee local custody.

DOC annual-report research listed 140 employees in FY2022 and 178 employees in FY2017, along with program and operational details. The current page also notes ACA accreditation. No recent litigation item specific to Delta Regional Unit was found in the official-source sweep used for this project.
